We bridge the gap between emergency calls and ambulance arrival, providing critical care when every second counts. Our student volunteers are equipped with the skills and confidence to make life-saving interventions.

Community First Responders (CFRs) are trained volunteers who attend 999 calls, providing lifesaving care in those crucial minutes before an ambulance arrives.
CFRs deliver early interventions such as CPR, defibrillation, and basic life support. We bridge the gap between emergency calls and professional ambulance services, often making the difference between life and death.
Our role is to stabilise patients and provide immediate care whilst waiting for paramedics, working as part of the wider emergency response network across Yorkshire.
We are a University of Leeds society, run entirely by students for students. Our unique approach combines emergency response with the social aspects of university life.
Members respond to calls in pairs - one driver and one passenger - ensuring safety and support for each other during potentially challenging situations.
Beyond emergency response, we organise social events and trips throughout the year, building strong friendships and a supportive community amongst our members.
Joining us means mandatory attendance at our comprehensive 4-day training course (dates to be confirmed), delivered by qualified Yorkshire Ambulance Service instructors.
The training course covers essential skills including manual handling, CPR, use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), basic airway management, and patient assessment techniques.
Alongside the intensive course, you'll complete self-paced learning modules at home, ensuring you're fully prepared to provide life-saving care in emergency situations.
